We aim to highlight the regional styles and variances available from whiskies around the world. We will cover the origins\, production\, and the maturation processes to gain an understanding of how the golden liquid ends up in our glasses. Then we will move on to taste 4 Whiskies from each of the main whisky producing countries; including Scotland and Japan. \nNot only will you have a fun night with our ambassadors but you will leave our tasting with the confidence to explain the difference between a Bourbon WhiskEy and a Scotch Whisky! \n\nThe Whiskies \n\nJapan- Hibiki Japanese Harmony\, 43% Vol. One of Japans most famous blended whisky\nScotland– Caol Ila 12 Year Old\, 43% Vol. The largest of all Islay distilleries\nUSA- Elijah Craig 12 Year Old\, 47% Vol. This distillery was named after a preacher!\nWales- Penderyn Madeira Cask Finish. Yes… Welsh Whisky with a unique production process\n\n\nThis event is fully hosted by our very own Malt Masters Whisky Ambassador\, who is on hand to answer any questions you may have. Sampling 4 of the classic Islay malts and uncovering the secrets to their smokey\, salty notes. We will guide you through their unique tastes and aromas; whilst sharing stories from this ancient isle. \n \nIn this special tasting we will cover the basics of whisky making and production with a deserved focus on Islay and it’s influence as a whisky producing region and arguably the most famous in the world. \n\nThe Whiskies\nArdbeg Corryvreckan (57.1% vol)– World’s Best Single Malt Whisky at the World Whisky Awards 2010 and Best No Age Statement Scotch from Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.\nBowmore 15 Darkest (43% vol)– This whisky spends its last 3 years matured in an Oloroso sherry cask and is an example of a perfect marriage of peaty smoke and sweet sherry.\nKilchoman Machir Bay (46% vol)– The distillery baby of the group but is producing some spectaculat expressions. This one gives us a mix of both ex-bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry butts. \nBunnahabhain 12 years old (46.3% vol)– This lightly peated Islay whisky is the most tame of the pack but still packs a flavour punch! Great for Islay beginners. \n  \nThis event is fully hosted by our very own Malt Masters Whisky Ambassador\, who is on hand to answer any questions you may have. Asia have been doing some really great things with whisky over the past couple of years introducing us to some delightful drams and astounding expressions! \nWe will be purchasing some bottles from Malt Whisky Bar and not to mention bringing along our Islay left-overs from last month. \nCome and join us on 27th July at Malt Whisky Bar in Sheung Wan.
