Ardnamurchan 2015 MacLean & Bruce Adelphi 5 Years Old

The first independent bottling of Ardnamurchan Single Malt Scotch whisky, selected and bottled in association with Charles MacLean of MacLean & Bruce.

Drawn from 2 sister ex-Oloroso Sherry butts, this is a deep, polished chestnut colour with bright amber lights.

TASTING NOTES

Nose
On the nose, a bouquet of dark cherry liqueur chocolates with grated nutmeg, initially nose drying and eucalyptic. Rum Toft in the development with plums, peaches and oranges, becoming more savoury: a marmalade-glazed smoked ham (rested), and sweet smoked cheese notes.

Palate
An oily, mouth filling texture, starting tangy with a mid-palate of edible dried seaweed and sea salt, then roasted sweet chestnuts (slightly smoky from the fire), new hessian and autumn bonfires. Complex and ever-changing, like the weather on Ardnamurchan.

Finish
Polished leather lingers alongside fruit and nut dark chocolate.
